Closing U.S. Bases in Europe

Carlton Meyer, a former Marine Corps officer who participated in military operations around the world, believes that numerous overseas U.S. military installations can and should be closed.  In his website http://www.g2mil.com he offers an Overseas Base Closure List showing “outdated U.S. military bases overseas that can be promptly closed to save billions of dollars each year while shifting billions of dollars and thousands of jobs back to the USA.” His agenda for Europe includes the following:

Close Kelley Barracks in Germany – and Africom

Close Share-a-Nuke sites in Belgium, Germany, Italy, and The Netherlands

Vacate Two Army Bases in Germany (Bamberg, Schwienfurt) – as once planned.

Close USAG Garmisch in Germany – a hidden resort

Vacate RAF Lakenheath in England – the Russians aren’t coming

Close Cold War Airbases in England – except RAF Mildenhall

The Norway Pre-Po Racket – still ready for a Soviet invasion
